On April 28th, 2023, the new Cross of Peace was blessed with an ecumenical service on the leisure area at the Pirmasenser Eisweiher. The Peace Cross is a sign of gratitude for Franco-German reconciliation after the Second World War. In 1954 the first wooden cross was erected at a meeting of 5,000 young people on the Ruhfelsen and renewed in 1989. In line with tradition, the two wooden beams on the new cross also come from forests in Lorraine and the Southwest Palatinate.
