Among the most important sights are the Temple of Apollo, the ancient stadium, and the Odeon. Monte Smith also offers an impressive view over the city, the Aegean Sea, and the west coast of Rhodes. The viewpoint is particularly popular at sunset.
The name Monte Smith goes back to the British Admiral William Sidney Smith, who used the hill as an observation point during the Napoleonic Wars.
