Tips
The Turnul de apă, the water tower, was built between 1860 and 1892. Architect Bernardazzi drew the plans. With the construction of the tower, the first sewer system in Chisinau was also created. Today the water tower houses a museum with historical objects. If you have the time, you should pay a visit here.A small brass street map is embedded in the sidewalk in front of the entrance to the water tower. Here you can see which other sights are nearby.

The tower was badly damaged during the 1990 earthquake and only reopened in 2000. There used to be an identical water tower on Vasile Alecsandri Street, but it is no longer preserved.
