The water lily pond represents a self-contained ecosystem of a typical sky pond. The eponymous water lilies are of anthrogenic origin. The water is stable in terms of its biology and the chemistry of the water and has survived many hot "century summer" without problems. The water level is regulated naturally by precipitation and evaporation.
