    Hiking

Built in the 7th century by St Feichín, Feichin’s Church or Teampaill Féichín was excavated from the sand in 1981 by a local curate Martin Greany and a group of volunteers. It is thought is was erected here in the hollow to protect it from the rough seas and winds. A community still lived here until the famine when they were greatly affected and it became derelict. You can also see traces of ruined houses in the sand dunes.
