The Marconi Railway ran from the R341 for 2.4km around the eastern edge of Lough Emlaghnabehy and to the Marconi Wireless Station. It was originally built to carry building material while the station was being constructed but in time was used to transport visitors and staff. It was in use from 1907 to 1922. The path of the railway is now known as Marconi Street and makes for a wide trail to hike up to the Lough.
