In the 18th and 19th century there was a pan factory here. Clay from the area was used as raw material for the tiles. In addition to the factory, the complex included sheds, workers' homes and a main building with ramparts and a square.
Since 2004, a landscape artwork, made by Stijn Claikens, has adorned the site, which indicates the course of the front line with a red and a blue winding concrete wall.
