The braided - or rather wrapped - willow sculpture by the willow artist Irmgard Wissing from Bad Bevesen was erected as part of the 1250th anniversary of the city of Eschborn.
"In dealing with the willow we can get something of ourselves reflected," says Wissing: "Are we in the flow of life, alive or rigid? Are we too open or too scared?” Like no other material, willow combines the polarity of suppleness and toughness with stubbornness and rigidity.
