The main height point (HHP) on the Hutbigl north of Altenburg near Horn was stabilized in 1987 and has since represented the visible reference point of the Austrian precision leveling network. The HHP is both a national height reference point and an international reference point for the European Vertical Reference Systems (EVRS). As one of 13 or 12 altitude reference points distributed throughout Europe, which are permanently connected to the stable part of the Eurasian tectonic plate, it realizes the vertical datum and thus the reference horizon of the EVRS in the 2007 (EVRF2007) and 2019 (EVRF2019) realizations.
