A nice scenic 'roof of the world' type climb of 2.5 miles at an average of 7%, steepest in the first half. Pub in Grinton to have a brew before you tackle it. Was memorable climb with some 'endless sky' photo opportunities.

Nice climb! Starts as for the TdF Grinton Moor climb (Whipperdale Bank).

Steep climbing leads to a cattle grid. Turn right after this for the climb. Often surrounded by sheep, who will stare at you suspiciously.

A few steep but short ramps finally ease after 900m. The hard bit is done, but the road continues to climb to another cattlegrid near the summit. The descent to Redmire is quick with a few twists & turns. Entering the trees, keep an eye open on the right. There is a side road from Castle Bolton here. Not much traffic uses it, but best stay alert!
