In 1553 the Reformation was introduced in Groß-Rohrheim and the former parish branch in Gernsheim received its own parish. In 1547 a fire destroyed almost the entire village. In 1579 the village was Hessian-Darmstadt and the Schenck von Erbach family owned a quarter of the Niederegerichtbachkeit. The first school lessons for boys in Groß-Rohrheim date back to 1580.
