Monte Caliano (1622m) is a square rocky mass that clearly emerges on the western side of the Novegno massif: on the peaks the view is stunning, and ranges 360° from the plain to the Piccole Dolomiti, from Pasubio to the Asiago Plateau; on the clearest days the view reaches as far as the Dolomites.

During the First World War, its bowels were excavated by the Italian military engineers, creating a fortified bastion with cannons aimed at the opposite Pasubio.

The climb (and especially the descent) is short but quite daring: you climb on the rocks and you have to be particularly careful in the snow or when it's wet. EE.
