In 1944, the Balsvoort farm is located on the Kampina, which is inhabited by the Schut family. Hein lives here with brother Theo and their mother, father passed away some time before the war. Brother Bernard lives with his family in Oirschot.
On Balsvoort, refugees have been hidden by the family for some time, Hein and Theo are active in the resistance and supply various shelters. The Oisterwijk resistance led by Bim van der Klei also temporarily holds 7 German prisoners. Since there were also other refugees and new evacuees arrived, this situation was not desirable and the resistance was asked to hide the Germans somewhere else.
