Pieter Gerbrand van Tienhoven, son of Gijsbert van Tienhoven, was an underwriter in Amsterdam who was mainly known for his work for nature conservation. He studied law and biology at the Municipality of Amsterdam, where he obtained his doctorate in law in 1902.
