The buildings have a great facade design. Very different from today's loveless box architecture

Founded on August 1, 1872, over the years a fairly large factory site was created by Dr. C.Otto & Comp. in Dahlhausen, which was still quite rural at the time. Due to the former direct connection to the Ruhr Valley Railway and a nearby quarry, there were good structural conditions for the company to flourish. At that time, the company developed into the world's leading company in the construction of coke ovens. From 1872 to 1951 alone, more than 48,000 coke ovens worldwide were powered by the Dr. C.Otto & Comp. built. Due to the structural change, the divisions have shifted. Today, furnaces for waste incineration plants, aluminum smelters and for plants in the petrochemical industry are mainly manufactured. The plant has been part of the Industrial Heritage Route since 2014.
