The weir and the fish pass were rebuilt from November 1994 to October 1995. The weir system consists of a fixed weir with a crest width of 80 m. When the weir and the lock in Freyburg were reconstructed or put back into operation, a new fish ladder was built at the same time, which is intended to enable the Unstrut to pass through this transverse structure for migrating fish species and invertebrates. This is a basin pass at the weir in Freyburg. (Wikipedia)

The Unstrut is a 192 km long, left tributary of the Saale and its most water-rich tributary. The catchment area is almost the entire Thuringian Basin, along with part of the western and northern edge plates, parts of the southern Harz and smaller parts of the northern Thuringian Forest.Source: Wikipedia
