    As the last of the railways in the eastern Taunus, the railway was built in 1912 through the valley of the Solmsbach from Albshausen to Grävenwiesbach. Its importance lay in the development of the agricultural Solmser Land; there were no major industries or deposits of raw materials here.
    With the decline of the branch lines, the Solmsbach Valley Railway also lost its traffic in the 1980s and was shut down and dismantled in 1988. However, the southernmost 8 km from Grävenwiesbach to Brandoberndorf were rebuilt 10 years later and have been successfully operated as part of the Taunusbahn ever since.
    There are currently first voices that are campaigning for a reactivation of the Solmbsbachtalbahn in the context of the traffic turnaround.
