Cycling

Border pole 106 is the last pole of the arc around Maastricht and also the first in a long row of “Maas poles”. From here the border follows the thalweg of the Maas. The Maas only became a border after 1839. Before that, Limburg was one whole. Between 1830 and 1839, Dutch Limburg was even briefly Belgian. King William I of the Netherlands has Ned. Limburg exchanged for the Walloon part of Luxembourg.
