Across the wide meadows around the Werratal you can see a white mountain in the distance: the Monte Kali. However, the view of the impressive giant belies its ecological consequences. It consists entirely of the excess spoil salt that is produced during potash production. After all, the salt is no longer simply passed as salt water in the Werra.
