"In the stream valleys of the Holzwarche nature reserve, between the towns of Rocherath and Mürringen, lies one of the last most important refuges of the yellow wild daffodil, where it offers a special natural spectacle with over ten million flowers every year between April and May. The flowers can also be found on the edge of the High Fens and the Kelmis region.
The wild daffodil was originally distributed in western Central Europe. Its main distribution area is in Atlantic landscapes with high rainfall. Its natural habitat is poor limestone, poor wet meadows."

The daffodil blooming season typically falls between the end of March and mid-April, depending on the weather. During this time, special daffodil hikes are offered throughout the region around the upper Holzwarche, particularly starting from Rocherath-Krinkelt (Belgium) and Hollerath (Germany). The most beautiful trails lead through the Holzwarche valley and its side valleys, where the yellow blossoms contrast beautifully with the fresh green of the meadows and the dark backdrop of the forests.
