The Wethbrunnen stands in front of the house at Wethgasse 2. Together with numerous other fountains, it supplied the city within the walls with water. When the sewer system was completed in 1904, many fountains were demolished and disappeared from the cityscape. One of the few exceptions is this old tube fountain.

In Nördlinger Straße at the height of the so-called Weth, only the Weth fountain reminds us that there was once a pond here. During the Staufer period, the first Nördlinger Gate stood here, but it was completely demolished after the city expanded. The watering hole in the Nördlinger suburb not only played a role in the jurisdiction - convicted persons are said to have been immersed in the water - but also served as a watering hole for livestock.
