The Merchants' Bank of Canada was a major financial institution, and its headquarters at 355 Saint-Jacques Street in Montreal was a landmark. In 1922, the Merchants' Bank of Canada merged with the Bank of Montreal. Later, the magnificent building also housed the luxury hotel Le St-James; it closed in 2022.
