Here on the Gollenberg in Stölln, the world's first flight attempts were made. The first pioneer of aviation, Otto Lilienthal, carried out his groundbreaking flight tests here in Stölln on the Gollenberg from 1893 to 1896. On the Gollenberg, a large sculpture, the wind harp on the top of the mountain, and a memorial stone at the crash site commemorate the aviation pioneer.
