The most important source of the Black Lütschine is the Upper Grindelwald Glacier and some streams, which rise above this glacier and flow into their valley.
At Zweilütschinen, the Black Lütschine finally unites with the Weisse Lütschine coming from the left from the Lauterbrunnen Valley to form the Lütschine.
Its approximately 20.6 km long course ends around 1954 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of 95 ‰.
