The Steger Sawmill (Steger Säge) is a significant example of a Venetian sawmill powered by the waters of the Rio Ciamin. This type of construction spread to the north of the Serenissima as early as the 13th century. After its renovation, the building was used as the seat of the Visitor Center of the Sciliar - Catinaccio Natural Park. Until 2021, before moving to Tires, the building served as the Natural Park House. It is now an information center which can be visited in the summer months. In addition to the sawmill, it is also possible to visit the adjoining house of the sawyer, on the upper floor.

In the locality of Bagni di Lavina Bianca in Tires, in the ancient Steger Säge in Val Ciamin, there is an ancient Venetian-type hydraulic sawmill. The property was renovated and later used as the seat of the Visitor Center of the Sciliar - Catinaccio Natural Park. Until 2021, the building was the home of the Sciliar-Rosengarten Nature Park and also the oldest home of the Nature Parks in South Tyrol. It is now an information center of the Natural Park. The structures and exhibition elements have recently been updated; for example we find interactive stations with information on the history of the sawmill, on the birds and other naturalistic characteristics of the park; on the upper floor of the building where the sawyer lived, a section dedicated to the geology of the protected area has been set up.
The sawmill can be visited in the summer months and is still fully functional.
