De Visser, a sculpture made in synthetic resin with stone powder, was created by Georges Staes (°1927 +2017).
The sculpture by the Beverse artist Georges Staes was placed in Doel in 1991 as part of a project by the Regional Housing Company. In 2015, the Society donated 'De Visser' to the municipality of Beveren, which had the work restored by Noortje Cools.
In the original stone next to the statue is a fragment from the poem L'Escaut (Toute la Flandre) by Emile Verhaeren.
