The Kappmühle has 4 floors for the mill operation. The mill, which is otherwise no longer in operation, can only be visited on guided tours.
On Saturday, July 6th, 2019, another historical event of the local history and culture association from Mackenzell took place, the "Baking day with a tour of the mill in the Kappmühle" - according to the motto from grain to bread.

The Kapp mill has been owned by the Brehl family for around 100 years. Her exact age is not known. In the past, flour was ground here and feed grain was crushed, but today electricity is generated. To operate the mill wheel, the water is diverted from the mother brook Nüst, which flows into the approximately 600 meter long mill race, where the mill wheel is driven by the power of the water flow. In the 1960s the wooden wheel was replaced by a steel mill wheel with a diameter of 3 meters.
The mill wheel works "undershot", so the water flows under the wheel. The height of fall and the amount of water are decisive for the mechanical performance. The water rushes down 1.7 meters, moving 500 liters of water per second. The momentum of the mill wheel, which turns five times a minute, is translated into energy. A three-stage spur gear is driven inside the mill, which reaches 320 revolutions. The connected generator then turns it to 750 revolutions - the current flows.
