The historic bridge is part of the former Kassel–Waldkappel railway line—also known as the Lossetalbahn or Kassel-Waldkappel Railway. It was built between 1879 and 1880. Today, freight trains run to the Waldau industrial area and Bettenhausen station, and sometimes further to Helsa.
