The Malpie consists of two parts. The first is the Malpiebeemden, an area of 217 hectares. It is located between Valkenswaard and Borkel en Schaft and is owned by the association Natuurmonumenten. The other part consists of the Malpiebossen and nature reserve De Malpie. This is a contiguous area of approximately 400 hectares, of which 120 hectares consists of heathland and fens.
