The nature reserve "Springersberg bei Odersbach" includes an open land mosaic of diverse habitat types with small-scale, alternating plant communities. On the terraced, dry southern slope, species-rich but nutrient-poor meadows alternate with individual bushes, extensive hedges and stands of fruit trees. In the upper areas, extensive bushes merge into a young oak forest. The "Springersberg" is of outstanding importance as a location for rare and strictly protected orchids. However, a wide variety of other flowering plants also thrive on the arid and semi-arid open land sites, making the area attractive to a variety of insects. The richly structured hedge and grassland areas are also a habitat for endangered breeding bird species.
