Once you have arrived at the Peilberg Hochalm, you can, for example, follow route AE to the Stangenjoch, park your mountain bike there and climb the Großer Rettenstein (marked as a black hiking trail) in around three and a half hours. There you have a wonderful view of the Spertental and the Kitzbühel Alps. You hike to the Schöntaljoch. From the yoke you are in Tyrolean territory. The last stretch to the summit of the Großer Rettenstein leads over a steep path that requires appropriate mountain experience, good surefootedness and a head for heights.
