The Ursprung station was built in 1885 on the Neuoelsnitz (formerly Höhlteich) - Lugau - Wüstenbrand railway line, which primarily serves to transport hard coal (opened to Lugau in 1858 and to Neuoelsnitz in 1879). Initially, the nearby restaurant served as a waiting room. A goods shed was built in 1902.

The station building was not erected until 1910 and represents a type of construction for the Royal Saxon State Railways. A passing track and a loading track behind the platform in the direction of Lugau, as well as the associated security technology (signals, bolts, crank mechanism) were built in 1912. As a result, the Ursprung stop was upgraded to a train station.

Origin is from 1976 an unoccupied breakpoint. The station building was later converted into a storage room. On August 10, 1990, passenger services on the route were discontinued and the Ursprung stop lost its actual function after 105 years.

In 2001, the section Ursprung - Lugau was closed, so that the journeys made on December 23, 2000 represented the "last journeys", which was not foreseeable at the time. The formal decommissioning of the route by the Federal Railway Authority finally took place in 2003.

Since 1997 the association "Lugauer Eisenbahnfreunde e.V." the stop and ensured that the station building and the surrounding area were restored to their original state as far as possible.

        Info:

The station opened for passenger and baggage traffic on
        October 1, 1885. There was a
        50-meter-long platform, two
        post lamps, and a simple
disc signal. On November 23, 1910,
        a
        small reception building was inaugurated,
which is now lovingly preserved and maintained by the association.

From 1912 to 1971, the station had the status of a
        railway station.
