Almogía is a picturesque village located northwest of Málaga and belongs to the Axarquía region. Almogía has a long history with Phoenician, Roman and Moorish influences. The name comes from the Moorish period and means something like "place of God". After the reconquest by the Christians in the 15th century, the village remained a strategically important point.
