We had a lot of fun there; our Yorkie discovered a robotic lawnmower and really enjoyed it. 😀 Welgelegen (1929), with its tea pavilion, is located on the Heechein and is a retirement home. You can take a walk in the park; it's really beautiful!

The Welgelegen residential complex in Akkrum was taken into use in 1929 as “a home for old ladies from the well-to-do middle class”. According to the will, the rental of the houses was possible 'to unmarried ladies and widows without resident children from the decent bourgeoisie, professing the Protestant religion and living in the province of Friesland or born in that province of Frisian parents, whose incomes are not sufficient to live in to provide for their maintenance properly, to ensure a carefree and quiet life as much as possible'. The main building was placed on the list of protected monuments in 1970.
