The bunkers on Römö were built as part of a standard building system. There was a kit with drawings and cladding boards for each type of bunker, which allowed mass production with a uniform standard. The walls were between 2-3.5 m thick and consisted of 1,500 m³ of reinforced concrete. The costs for the construction of a bunker would be around € 500,000 today. Although Römö consists of sand, it was unsuitable for building bunkers, as the sand from Römö is too fine-grained and round to bind sufficiently.roemoe.de/sehenswuerdheiten/bunker

On the gray concrete and rusting steel pairs have attached small locks, as they are known from bridges too. I think that's a nice idea to make the gray remnants of the Atlantic Wall more friendly. Every time I meet bunkers in the Danish dunes, I wonder what it must have been like to spend days in these concrete coffins. It must have been terrible. I am grateful and appreciate very much that I was allowed to grow up and grow up in a time that is not overshadowed here by military conflicts.
