    Ruins of Kasteleck Castle

At the end of Oberried in the direction of Zastler there is an obviously artificial, almost round hill on the left. This should hide the remains of Kasteleck Castle in its floor. You can read about this, among other things (source: the interesting "Castles in the High Black Forest", Roland Weis, Thorbecke Verlag, ISBN 978-3-7955-1368-5, pages 59ff.):

"Castle research assumes that these are the remains of a so-called moth. [...] on an artificial hill stood a tower structure, the main castle, surrounded by a bailey separated by palisades and ditches. [
] could also have been a wooden tower.”

Different theories are mentioned about the time of origin and the moment of destruction. The one cited as the most plausible in the book states, among other things:

    “[
] the only conclusion left is that this former castle was already an insignificant ruin at the beginning of the 13th century. [...] More plausible would be a connection with the mining law of the Bishop of Basel, which already existed in the 11th century for the southern Black Forest.”

    Furthermore:
In the BZ of 06/09/2020 this was mentioned in connection with other archaeological discoveries in the region and a ground radar image was printed on which the remains of this castle can be recognized to some extent if you are an expert, or - like me - it is presented as such.

Said book also gives information e.g. about (in the Dreisamtal) Tarodunum, Wiesneck, Zastlerstein, Falkenstein.
