It is one of the great residences of Anjou. From an architectural point of view, following destruction during the wars, the castle has 3 architectural styles: fortified castle architecture, Renaissance architecture and 19th century architecture. The oldest known lord is Raoul le Gaudi, knight in 1340, but the castle probably dates back even earlier.
