In the mid-19th century, numerous families from the villages of the eastern part of Malaga, who were mainly winegrowers, began to settle in Fuengirola. This port was created by the need to export raisins in the mid-19th century. The wholesale trade had increased significantly due to the grape varieties planted along the fields of Mijas and Fuengirola.
