The church, built in the neoclassical style, was consecrated on October 16, 1842.
The church was built from 1838-1842. The iron bells cast in the Morgenröther foundry are still ringing today. In 1960, the iron founders gave the humanist and doctor Albert Schweitzer a bell for his jungle hospital in Lambarene.
