Hiking

St George's Gardens was one of the very first burial grounds to be established away from a church. The land was bought in 1713 to serve as burial grounds for the churches of St George-the-Martyr, Holborn, and St George's, Bloomsbury. The burial grounds remained in use until the Burial Acts of the 1850s caused them to be closed.

One of the first burial grounds in London that was not directly located near a church. Was mainly active from the early 1700’s to mid 1800’s. Now a public garden where some of the graves and tombs remain.
