The high medieval castle Munzenberg is one of the most outstanding castle fortifications in Germany. It was expanded in the second half of the 12th century and in the 13th century. Although the castle was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, its ruins are still extremely authentically preserved. With its two characteristic towers, it forms an important landmark in the Wetterau. The city of Munzenberg, which forms a unitary content with the castle, has also been preserved in an unusually authentic way.

Be sure to hike or drive from the gallows into the forest to the south. With a wide view of the Taunus.

The castle ruins are a landmark in the Wetterau that can be seen from afar. Münzenberg is also the namesake of the line of the same name of the Counts of Hanau.

The 145 steps up the tower are worth it! There are castle tours several times a day, also exciting and informative. Admission prices, opening times and, if applicable, events are to be found in advance on the website of the city of Münzenberg or the Circle of Friends.

Part of the castle complex, not very exciting, but nice to look at.
