In the summer of 2006, the park part "Am Wasserturm" was completed as an extension of the Hohnhorst Park. On an area of 25,000 m², the beet yard of the former Lehrte sugar refinery was dismantled and converted into a modern park. Circular pools and a likewise round climbing wall (boulder wall) are reminiscent in their design language of the sugar silos and clarifiers that used to stand here. The originally cased Lehrter Bach was opened and now flows through the park in a natural bed.

Planning the Parkschlösschen began in 1913 with the municipal colleges in the city park to build an urban restaurant and then lease it. The Parkschlösschen was to be completed in 1915. Since, however, during the First World War, the necessary specialist staff was not available, you could build the building until 1919.
