The collegiate church of St. Giles is the largest church in the Palatinate city and was built in the Gothic style in the 14th century. In the Middle Ages it was one of the residences of the Electoral Palatinate. The double church has a Catholic and a Protestant part, i.e. a simultaneous church, through the subsequent insertion of a partition.

The collegiate church is visible from afar. It has two different church towers. The bell tower accommodates a two-day Türmerwohnung and offers from there on top of a circulating viewing gallery a very good panoramic view of Neustadt.
