Hiking

Sheltered by imposing trees, the chapel was built in bricks in 1899. It has a beautiful bell tower. The door and windows are Gothic in shape. It replaces another chapel that dates from the 17th century.

Open chapel and part of the chapel tour in Aubel. Dedicated to Saint Anthony. Information board with the background and description (see photos).

On the information board of the chapel: In "Kierberg" we find this brick chapel from 1899, surrounded by three imposing trees and equipped with a narrow bell tower. The door and windows are Gothic. The chapel replaces another chapel that probably dated from the 17th century.

In the chapel you will find another witness to the war past. An older French-language text in a frame (see photo) calls on you not to leave the chapel without praying for the victims of the 1940-1945 war from Aubel. Their names are listed in "categories": died for the fatherland, executed, fighters 1940, martyrs of the concentration camps, deportees, victims of the bombardment of Montzen, victims of the bombardment of Juprelle, civilian victims and liberators.
