Beautiful downhill path from the Ghenna pass to the canyon. Easy to walk and suitable for everyone, however it is advisable to do it with footwear suitable for the mountains and not with sneakers. Not suitable for MTBs

This is the starting point for the more beautiful and interesting way to the gorge

You can't (fortunately!) get directly to the Gorropu Gorge by car. One of the two footpaths there begins at Passo Genna Silana (Silana Pass) at around 1000 m above sea level (free parking directly on the SS 125). From there it goes down to the gorge at a moderate incline with wonderful views. You will soon see the riverbed of the Flumineddu, which runs through the valley from the mouth of the gorge. In front of the gorge entrance, the river bed is widened and the river forms small pools and waterfalls, in between there are flat rocks that are ideal for picnicking or sunbathing.

Entry into the Gorropu Gorge has to be paid on site for €5 (as of 2019) and you will receive a short introduction before you can make your way in. The gorge is around 4 m wide at its narrowest point and around 500 m high, with the impressive limestone walls being partly vertical or even overhanging.

If you don't want to go up the 700 m or so again, you can take a jeep to the pass for €15 (as of 2019). From the gorge to the pick-up point there is approximately 2.8 km (flat) walk along the Flumineddu River.

The second way to get to the gorge is a 7 km long path from the north, which runs more or less parallel to the river and has a completely different characteristic than that from the top of the pass.
