From the point of view of the official garden, the "Warrior and Emperor Monument to Lebus" rises high above the city. This memorial was dedicated to the Lubuszers who fell in the three wars of 1864, 1866 and 1870/71, but also to Emperor Wilhelm I and Emperor Friedrich III. to honor.
The Landwehr and Warrior Association, founded specifically for this purpose in 1875, was commissioned to implement the project “The Warrior and Emperor Monument to Lebus”. The construction of the monument was entrusted to the Frankfurt master stonemason Carl Schulz and cost no more than 1,686 marks without a foundation. The inauguration of the monument took place on August 18, 1895. The annual victory and commemoration ceremony was held every year on September 2nd, Sedan Day, until 1918. In the period between 1919 and 1945, with the Sedan Day, the monument also lost attention and importance. Until 1945, commemorative events mostly took place at the "World War Memorial 1914-1918". After the memorial was damaged in the fighting in 1945 and the eagle was stolen, the memorial fell into disrepair, was forgotten and gradually disappeared behind the foliage of large locust trees. After the reunification, from 2002 to 2005, the local history association Lebus e.V. renovated the surroundings and the monument itself.
