Tips
Along with Parkman Mountain and Gilmore Peak, Bald Peak is part of a group of low peaks west of the Sargent and Penobscot Mountains.
These peaks are on the route of our circular hike at the end of May. The ascent to Bald Peak is from the south via the trail of the same name. At the summit we have a wonderful view to the west over the northern part of Somes Sound, which extends far into Mount Desert Island.

Bald Peak is a splendid outcrop from which to view the cascade of small mountains descending the western side of Sargent Mountain. Hikers also get a great view of the northern half of Somes Sound. The trail is steep but well worth the reward.
