This church is quite a special building. A Romanesque tower from the 12th century, probably originally for defense, a nave and a late Gothic choir from 1634 rebuilt in the 19th century.
Numerous traces and scars allow a curious eye to read the evolution of the building.
In the past, the jurisdiction of Franière was very complex due to power interference between Liège and Namur via the chapter of Fosses and the abbey of Floreffe.
After being linked to that of Floreffe for around forty years, the parish of Franière will finally be autonomous in 1834.
In the 1980s, the roof collapsed, which was the occasion for a beautiful restoration. If the door is open, don't miss a peek.
Some crosses and tombs still remain from the old cemetery. Also worth seeing is the magnificent pastoral house from 1626 located at the apse of the church.
