The Ilmwehr in Mellingen is located directly on the Thuringian town chain (cycle path from Eisenach to Altenburg). There is also a nice rest area. The weir belongs to the Untermühle, a cultural monument.

The rest area is on the Ilm weir in Mellingen. Right at the rest area you will find three grinding stones and the main shaft of the former oil mill. There is also an e-bike charging station with four lockers.

Weirs are always fascinating. Big or small. 😁 The weir in Mellingen has its appeal because it is in the middle of town and you can look directly at it over a small bridge. A beautiful sight.
