On the Municipal Cemetery in Vreeland are three War Graves of victims from the Second World War. These are the graves of: Jakobus de Ronde, gardener, and Johannes Meijwaart, factory worker. Both Resistance members, 28 years old, executed on 23-04-1945 in Abcoude.

Hiking

The castle had a turbulent past and was often mortgaged. Emperor Charles V demolished Vredelant in 1528 to build Vredenburg castle in Utrecht with the released building material. Until the late 1960s, the field was home to football club De Sperwer. The current playing field is an archaeological monument.
